Insider Dining Tips
•Calisto's Portuguese Playbook
•Start with peri-peri chicken — Calisto's signature flame-grilled masterpiece comes in various heat levels from lemon & herb to extra hot.
•Order family-style with a mix of seafood and meat. Portuguese dining is communal, so share platters of prawns, trinchado, and espetada.
•Save room for sides — Portuguese rice, chips with peri-peri salt, and grilled vegetables complement the main proteins perfectly.
•Pair your meal with a Portuguese beer like Sagres or Super Bock, or try a glass of vinho verde for an authentic experience.
•Don't rush — Portuguese dining at Calisto's is meant to be savored. Allow at least 90 minutes for the full experience.
Insider Tip
•Sunday lunch special: R179 for a half chicken with sides and a local beer or glass of house wine (12pm-4pm).
