Insider Dining Tips
•Crawfords Beach Lodge Seaside Dining Essentials
•Book ahead for dinner service, especially during holiday seasons when this East London coastal gem fills quickly with both guests and locals.
•Start with sundowners on the deck overlooking the Indian Ocean — arrive 30 minutes before your reservation to catch the spectacular Chintsa sunset.
•For breakfast, the buffet offers the best value, featuring fresh local fruits and traditional South African favorites — opt for this over à la carte.
•Consider the seafood platter for two if dining as a couple — Crawfords sources fish daily from local East London fishermen.
•Request a window table when booking to maximize your ocean views, especially during whale-watching season (June-November).
•Dress code is "smart casual" — while beach attire is fine for lunch, dinner guests typically dress up a notch without being formal.
Insider Tip
•Lodge guests receive complimentary afternoon tea with homemade scones between 3-4PM — non-guests can enjoy this treat for R85 per person.
