Insider Dining Tips
•Cubata Portuguese Dining Protocol
•Order family-style at this authentic Portuguese haven in Sydenham, with most dishes designed for sharing among 2-4 people.
•Start with traditional petiscos (Portuguese tapas) like chorizo, olives, and peri-peri prawns before moving to mains.
•Let the peri-peri chicken marinate for 5 minutes after serving - this allows the spices to settle and flavors to deepen.
•Save room for their Portuguese custard tarts (pastéis de nata) which often sell out by evening.
•When ordering seafood at Cubata, specify your spice preference clearly - their authentic Portuguese heat levels can surprise newcomers.
Insider Tip
•Sunday lunch specials include complimentary sangria when you order any family platter between 12-3pm.
