Insider Dining Tips
•Elm Tree Restaurant French Dining Finesse
•Start with an aperitif in the hotel's elegant courtyard before your meal - the quintessential French dining ritual sets the tone for a leisurely experience.
•Course timing matters at Elm Tree - traditional French dining progresses from entrée (starter) to plat principal (main) to dessert, with appropriate pauses between.
•When sharing dishes, which is less common in French dining, request extra plates rather than reaching across the table - maintain the refined atmosphere.
•Wine pairings are essential - ask your server for recommendations from their curated selection that complement your specific dish choices.
•Save room for dessert and coffee - the French culinary experience isn't complete without ending on something sweet followed by espresso.
•At Elm Tree, bread is a course companion, not an appetizer - pace yourself and use it to enhance sauces throughout your meal.
Insider Tip
•Their "Soirée Française" on Thursday evenings offers a prix fixe three-course menu with a glass of French wine for R395 per person.
