Insider Dining Tips
•Scala Pasta / Bar: Italian Bar Etiquette
•Start with aperitivo tradition (5-7pm) by ordering a Negroni or Aperol Spritz paired with small antipasti to stimulate your appetite.
•Order pasta as "primi" (first course) in Italian style, followed by "secondi" (main course) of pizza or protein dishes for authentic dining progression.
•Share pizzas family-style in the center of the table, but order individual pasta dishes since twirling long noodles from a shared plate gets messy.
•Pair your meal with Italian wines from Scala's curated list, focusing on regional pairings (Sangiovese with tomato-based dishes, Pinot Grigio with seafood).
•Save room for a digestivo liqueur (like limoncello) after your meal to properly close out your Cape Town Italian dining experience.
Insider Tip
•Tuesday Pasta Night offers any pasta dish plus a glass of house wine for R150 between 6-8pm.
