Insider Dining Tips
•Spek & Bone Tapas Tactics
•Order 2-3 tapas per person initially at Spek & Bone, then add more as needed. Their small plates are designed for exploration, not filling up on one dish.
•Start with lighter options like their signature cured meats before moving to richer dishes. The restaurant's name hints at their specialty: "spek" means bacon in Afrikaans.
•Share everything! Tapas at Spek & Bone is designed for communal dining, so place dishes in the center and let everyone sample.
•Pace your ordering rather than requesting everything at once. This ensures hot dishes arrive fresh and gives you time to enjoy the Stellenbosch setting.
•Don't skip the wine pairings - Spek & Bone's extensive local wine list complements their tapas perfectly, with many available by the glass.
Insider Tip
•Visit for their "Sunset Tapas" special, Tuesday-Thursday from 5-7pm, featuring select tapas and wine pairings at reduced prices.
