Probably South Africa's longest and most consistently good wave. It's ordained by ocean deities as a mecca for surf and began in the late 60s and early 70s as a hippie hangout from whence came the surf dynasties: Rip Curl, Billabong, Country Feeling and so forth.
Jeffreys Bay is also ideal for cycling past placid lagoons. The Kabeljous, Seekoei and Krom river lagoons hosts numerous water birds, and is also ideal for water sport like canoeing boardsailing fishing etc.
Every year migrating whales make their way to Hermanus and Witsand to give birth, and whales can be seen breeching on almost every day during the season.
The town caters for the young and old ,with many free as well as paid for activities on offer .

Also visit Monkey world, a wolf sanctuary, birds of prey sanctuary and elephant sanctuary. The Billabong Factory Shop has become a huge tourist magnet for the town. Numerous shipwrecks and an abundance of fish make scuba diving a fascinating activity.
